ciall : The firft which is called Celeftiall, is
defined to be a true and exact confideration with
an humble & dutifull acknowledgement of God.
Natural Justice is that which is borne with us,
and every man hath in himselfe by nature ; that
which we call Civill, confifteth either of what
our owne beft condition ftirrs and prompts us
to doe, or what the fuffrage of the people, the
the confultation of the Senate ; the will and po-
wer of Princes, or the Authority of grave and
wife men, inioynes us to keepe and obferve. Ju-
ditiall is that which propperly belongeth to the
Bench, & is grounded upon Statutes & Lawes ;
inftituted and made for the benefit and profit of
the Common weale, to the depreffion of vice,
and incouragement of vertue.

Chap.2. Wherefore the Lawes were made.

Now to fee thefe things faithfullys and pun-
ctuall kept, were the Lawes firft devifed
and ordained ; the vertues whereof, are to beare
fway powerfully to reftraine and forbid things
gently, to punifh and chaftice Malefactors fe-
verely ; but errors committed by ignorance, to
cenfure mercifully : under thefe foure heads may
our inioyned obedience to the Law be compre-
hended, which is alfo by the Law ftrictly im-
pofed : namely, to live honeftly, to hurt no man
